An Eventful Notre Dame Saturday

As all of you know, this is Dave's favorite time of year... Notre Dame Football begins! It's now even more exciting for Dave as he has a son to dress up in ND gear!

The England's come over to watch the game. They're huge Arkansas fans and Dave thought it would be funny to put Blake in a Notre Dame jersey. We have a jersey in a 2T from when Morgan was little. Can you tell Dave was excited?!

Dave asked that I make 7-Layer Dip with ND on it... Here it is!

Our Saturday started off wonderfully. My boys vacuumed the house together, Braiden was as happy as could be, and our friends were coming over for food, drinks, and football. As the day went on, Braiden's eye became red and swollen. By 5 o'clock, when all of our friends were here and the game was on he began crying uncontrollably. For Braiden, this was extremely out of character, so we knew something was wrong. I called the doctor and they said to take him to the ER. So, Braiden and I headed to the ER and they decided that it was probably conjunctivitis and gave him an antibiotic ointment.
We came home and I put Braiden in the bath tub. While I was giving him a bath, I noticed that Braiden's hernia was discolored, hard, and misshapen. The doctors told us that if this ever happened it was a medical emergency. So, right away, we packed up and head to the Children's Hospital. They were very good. Took us right away with no waiting. We saw the doctor pretty quickly. He squeezed the hernia and we could hear Braiden's intestine's move from the hernia back in to place. We will now be seeing a Pediatric Surgeon this week to discuss if surgery should be done. Usually, umbilical hernias repair themselves by the time the child is one. In Braiden's case, his hernia is extremely tiny and they think it would be gone before he was one, however, now that this incident happened, they do not want to take the chance that it happens again and is not easily put back in to place, which would result in emergency surgery. I will post an update after we meet with the surgeon later this week. For now, just keep Braiden in your prayers : ) He is a tough little guy!
