Trip to Chicago

This past weekend Dave and I flew to Chicago. Unfortunately we had to go home for a funeral, but we were so thankful that we got to make the trip. It meant a lot to Dave to be there for his family. We stayed at Dave's parents house and got to spend time with his sisters and their boyfriends.

Thanks to Becky and Cort, who opened up their house, we got to visit with a bunch of wonderful friends as well. Dave and I can not get over how big all of the kids are getting! It was so fun being there in the mix of everyone. All of the kids are so polite and well behaved, it really makes us wish we lived closer... sadly, that won't happen as long as they live in Chicago considering while we were there the high was about 15 degrees. No thank you, we can not handle the cold anymore.

Thank you so much to Becky, Cort, Mia and Cole for the Baby Name Book and Baby Einstein Links and also a big thank you to Mike, Nicole, Steph, Pat, and Ryan for the adorable Touch and Feel Alphabet Book. You all are so sweet to have thought of Baby D. Also, thanks to Shannon and her maternity clothes, I no longer have to squeeze into my jeans! I now have some comfortable maternity clothes that allow me to breathe.

All is Well

All is well with us! I had a check up appointment last week and everything is right on track. Baby D's heart rate is still in the 150 bpm and I am still feeling great. Aside from the head aches and lack of sleep, I can not complain. We scheduled our "big visit!" We will be going in on February 9th at 10am to find out if Baby D is a boy or a girl.... Hopefully the little one is cooperating! Dave and I are so excited and anxious. Once we find out, I am going to be eager to start cleaning out the computer room and turning it into the nursery, what fun!
Recently Baby D was given a few more gifts. Addams's mom, Rayner gave us two pairs of baby shoes. One pair for if it's a boy and another in case it's a girl. It's unbelievable to me and Dave just how tiny the shoes are! They fit in the palm of our hands.
Our little one also got their first blanket, which I wouldn't mind using in the mean time. It is so soft! And also, a cute bear. It's called a Womb Bear and makes the sound of a heart beat, which is supposed to comfort the baby and make the sound that the baby heard while in the womb. Thank you to Steph and Dave for such thoughtful gifts.

Hope this blog finds all of you doing well. Be sure to check back on February 9th, for an important update. In the mean time, keep your fingers crossed that our little one cooperates that day : )

It's Been a While

I've been slacking lately on the blog, but it's because not too much has been going on. This past weekend we had a wonderful time celebrating Baby Blake's 1st Birthday! For those who do not know, Blake is one of our friends little boys and we are so lucky to have them in our neighborhood. We have watched him grow and can not believe he's 1! Dave and I can remember this time last year visiting him as a newborn in the hospital. We've now been present to see him get his first tooth, take his first steps, say his first few words, and have his first birthday party. It is a clear reminder to us of how time waits on no one! It has taught us that when our little one comes, we must treasure every single minute, because before we know it, we'll be posting pictures on here of Baby D's 1st Birthday!
Here are a few pictures from his wonderful party...

Presents for Baby D

There's not much to report at the Dore household. I am still feeling fine, aside from a few headaches here and there. I continue to slowly grow : ) I finally had to tell everyone at work I was expecting because I felt as though many of them were staring at me and wondering how I put on so much weight over the holidays!
I have an appointment on the 14th. It's a routine visit, but I believe I will be able to set up the big exciting appointment to find out what we're having! I'm guessing that it will be set for the beginning of February. Stay tuned if you want to know what we're having...
Recently we received a package in the mail. It was Baby D's first present from my Mom. Growing up I loved listening and singing along to Wee Sing tapes. So, how fitting that our babies first gifts are Wee Sing CD's!
Wee Sing For Baby and Wee Sing Nursey Rhymes and Lullabies- Thanks Mom!
I also surprised Dave with Baby D's first piece of clothing... When Morgan was born, Dave's gift to her was a Notre Dame jersey, which she wore religiously for every game up until this year. She is now three years old and has an opinion about everything. She also dresses herself and made it very clear to Dave and me that the jersey if not for girls, it's for boys and refused to wear it! Dave was disappointed, but the other day when I showed up with the jersey and told him Morgan was willing to pass it on, he was thrilled! He of course can not wait for college football to roll around again!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! This was our first New Years staying at home and for me, the first New Years in a long time that I couldn't have a sip of champagne at midnight. Instead I had sparkling cider and Dave drank the real stuff for the both of us :) We had a relaxing night at home with friends from Dave's work. It was nice being in our own home and not fighting crowds out at a bar!

I had a check up appointment with my doctor on Tuesday. Everything looked good and Baby D's heart was beating at 150 bpm, which they said was great! This was the first time I actually got to hear the heart beat, pretty amazing. I will be going for another visit on January 14th. Just another routine visit. I believe at that time I will also be able to schedule our next visit, which will be the big visit... we will find out if Baby D is a girl or a boy! We'll have to start a running poll on who thinks we're having a girl and who thinks we're having a boy. I already know a few people's thoughts, one being my brother, who is hoping for a nephew and will only refer to the baby as a him : ) We shall see.
Hope you all had a wonderful night last night and are recovering well today!

(Some people have said that in the Christmas picture I looked like I was showing a lot, so here's another with a tight top on. The doctor said I am right on target. I've gained 3 pounds total so far.)
